Review: Okay, I admit I bought this book for its cover but to be honest I liked the story better than the cover.
This book had an amazing and interesting premise that made for a fabulous book. I really liked both the main characters, Kestrel and Arin. Kestrel is a Valorian (ruling class) who is a very independent and strong willed girl. I really enjoyed reading about her and respected her as a female character. Arin (yes please), is a slave to Kestrel and he has a really interesting story.
While reading this book I got an ancient Rome vibe that was awesome! I love ancient Rome. Anyway, I really liked the world in the story but I wish there was a bit more, but I figure that there will be more in the following books. I would also like to know more of the history of the world.
Overall, this was a very good book and I recommend it to fantasy and/or historical fiction fans.
